NEW! Lunch Bags Pattern

I am so excited about my latest pattern... Lunch Bags!  Now for sale on my Etsy site.
The Lunch Sack is a great replacement to the traditional brown bag. It features a ribbon closure and vinyl coated fabric for the lining for easy cleaning. I love the versitility of this bag as you can use it in place of a gift bag or gift wrap and the recipient received two gifts in one!
The Lunch Box is superb for the kids lunch. It features a zipper closure and vinyl coated lining for easy cleanup.

It works great with the plastic lunch containers for easy food separation.  Also great for baby bottles, snacks, toys, and more!

My First Pattern!

I have created my very first pattern and it is for sale now on Etsy!  A Ruffled Tank and Raggy Flip Flops and Hair Bow... Rags to Ruffles.

For an added bonus, here is my free tutorial for some scrappy flip flops and hair bows.

Supply List:

1 Moda Honey Bun
1 Pair of plain colored flip flops
2 Hair Rubber bands
Scissors
Tape Measure

Instructions:

Step One:
Cut 52 strips measuring 1 ½” x 6”. 32 for flip flops and 20 for hair rubber bands.

Step Two:
Tie a double knot around the top part of the flip flop… Repeat this so you have 8 ties on each side.
Please note: depending on the size of your shoes, you may need more or less strips.

Step Three:
Repeat these same steps for the hair bows except tie the knots on a hair rubber band. You will need about 10 strips for each rubber band. Scrunch them all to one side of the rubber band, this will allow you to tie off the hair and keep all the tied strips at the top of the hair.

Step Four:
Create matching shoes and Hair bows for every outfit!

Free tutorial is also included as a bonus project in the pattern.

Stay tuned for more to come!

Hair Bow Holder Tutorial

Trying to find the right color hair bow or matching hair bows can sometimes be difficult when they are all thrown into a big basket.  This is an easy and decorative way to display all your little ones hair bows all in one convenient place.

Materials needed:

12 x 16 frame or whatever size will work best on your wall.  I chose to do two frames so I could hang more bows.
Moda Fat Quarter for each frame
Scrap of batting that will fit your frame (about fat quarter size)
Various sizes and colors of ribbon
Staple Gun and staples (be sure you get staples that are not longer than the width you plan to staple through.)
If your frame does not come with a wood backing, then you will need to get a piece of thin wood that you can cut to fit your frame.

Instructions:

Take apart your frame and remove the glass.  You will not need the glass so you can find another project for it.
Lay your Fat Quarter of fabric face down, next your scrap piece of batting, and finally lay the wood backing board from your frame on top.
Wrap the fabric and batting tight around the wood backing.  I added an additional layer of cardboard to mine so my staples would not go through the front since my board was super thin. Staple in place.
Continue to wrap and staple until all four sides are finished.
Your covered board should now look like this.
Take the ribbons you selected to match your bathroom decor and lay them across the board.  This can be as random as you would like.  I chose to do mine vertically, however you can do them, horizontally, diagonally, or all of the above.
Staple the ends of the ribbon on the back side of the board.
place your covered backing into the frame and secure in place.
 Hang and add your bows.
You now have a decorative wall art that is pretty and functional.
 Enjoy!

Lattice Garden Shower Curtain Tutorial

Be sure to check out the Moda Bake Shop today and download my Shower Curtain tutorial!
The shower curtain is the standard 72" tall, however I made it to be slightly longer to give it more fullness when pulled shut all the way.
Keep checking back this week for more bathroom tutorials posted here on my blog to coordinate with the shower curtain!

Little Bella

Meet Bella.
I never imagined we would be getting a new dog, but the kids were begging us for a "Goggy" {matthew translation = Doggy} and so the search began.  Criteria =  a non-shedding dog, that was kid friendly, and great for people with allergies.
Result = little Bella.  She is a Schnauzer / Shitzu mix and 100% princess.
I even had to make sure she had a little bling for her pink polkadot collar... fit for a princess.
I love having her around.  The kids adore her and love playing with her.  I love how mild mannered she is and just so soft and cuddly.  Not to mention her love for baths... she is so easy to clean... love it!  This is my kind of dog!
She is already practicing her "but I'm so cute" look with those little puppy dog eyes.

Quilt Market - Spring 2010

I think I am probably the LAST one to finally post about Quilt Market. What is the saying... Save the BEST for last. ;-P Just kidding. so... here it goes.

Quilt Market was great!  This time around I went with my MOM.  I was so glad she was there and I am now kicking myself because I did not get a single picture of us together... what was I thinking? Hindsight is 20/20.  We had a blast... riding the light-rail with our light-rail buddy, Kim... walked up and down Nicollet Mall street... enjoyed a night with bloggy friends at Fabric 2.0... and walked Quilt Market and helped my mom pick up lots of fun new things for her online store.
