Roman Numeral 2

Roman is two months old and two pounds heavier. I cannot believe that two months has already flown by!

Weighing in at 12 lbs. 8 oz. and measuring 23.3", this little man is in the 75% range for his height and weight.

Remember last month I mentioned I had to stop eating dairy because it was making his tummy upset. Well, it has been over 1 month that I have completely cut dairy out from my diet and it has made him such a happy baby! He actually started sleeping about 4-5 hours at night.

Instead of cow's milk, I tried Soy Silk {which tastes like a horrible diet shake} and Almond Milk {actually pretty good}. Even the kids liked the Almond Milk. We ran out of cow's milk one day and they wanted cereal for breakfast... so in went the almond milk.  They loved it.. Paige was a little hesitant at first... Her words "Why is the milk purple?".  The almond milk does have a darker tint to it compared to regular white milk... more like a tan color - like the color of an almond. A little convincing, tasting and then decides.. yum.. this is good.  How cool is that? Purple milk... her favorite color! Ha!

Anyway, giving up dairy has actually been really good, not just for Roman, but also for myself. I have actually started to loose my baby weight and I eat a lot healthier now.  I used to get IBS and now... no more stomach cramping! I now wonder if I am lactose intolerant and just never knew it.

I definitely recommend to any nursing moms that might have a colic baby to try to give up dairy for a couple weeks and see the difference it makes. It may even help you become a little healthier, too.

  1. First, Roman is so adorable! Second, supposedly a cow's milk protein sensitivity or intolerance is pretty rare in babies but it worked like a charm with my kiddo too. It was around five months or so that he grew out of it. I think it's great that you're sharing that for other new Moms! I found very little support from others who told me it was just "colic."

  2. Angela,
I'm your newest follower. Oh my goodness, that is the sweetest baby. Just adorable. Love the chubby cheeks. All my kids were chubby little babies and I loved it. I'm glad the almond milk is working for both of you. My sister drinks it because her daughter is lactose intolerant and says it's not bad at all.
I am so envious that you get to work for Moda. What a dream job. I can't imagine. When I get some extra time I am going to go through your blog more and see exactly what you do there. You lucky girl!
It's so nice to meet you. Please feel free to post many more pictures of that beautiful baby, I love them!

  3. I had to give it up when nursing my first. I didn't know there was a problem until people who called said "why is he always crying when we call." It was all I knew. I went off the milk and he was a different baby!

  4. Angela, what a cute baby! I bet that you are lactose intolerant. I'm not sure when I realized I was, but of course it was after I'd gone through two pregnancies drinking chocolate milk for the calcium! Now if I want dairy (not too often), I take a lactaid pill before and I have no problems.

  5. That baby is so delicious! You must just want to snuggle him all day (well, now that he's sleeping better anyway). I'm happy to hear a diet change helped so much! Thanks for sharing such great pics of both him and your sweet hub/daughter. My DD is almost old enough for the Daddy/Daughter dance next year.

  6. I mention that beautiful baby from chile

  7. Angela,

I am a new follower of yours seeing the beautiful quiet book you have made. I am lactose intolerant and my second son is also, i am glad that you found out so quickly as after 3 months of no sleeping and Ben being very uncomfortable all the time we finally found out about it. He is now 3 and a half still lactose intolerant but going so much better that it is now under control. I found that if I was having a hot chocolate made from soy milk adding golden syrup to it helped take away the taste! Congrats on your new book it looks lovely. All the best with your beautiful little baby.
