Friendship Bag Swap

A little while back I joined a Friendship Bag Swap hosted by the Quilting Gallery.

This is the lovely little "Dutch" bag I received all the way from the Netherlands. Thank you, Erica!
Check out all the wonderful goodies that were inside....
Butter candies.... YUM!
Cute little Dutch shoes, and some beautiful blue and white fabrics with Dutch inspired prints.

Upon receiving my bag... it quickly made me realize how I too needed to get a bag off to my Swap partner. So... here is the bag sent yesterday to my secret swap partner filled with some Moda goodness.

Thank you, Michele for hosting such a surpising event and to Rachel for the wonderful bag tutorial!

Hopeful...

Today, we are off to the Hospital where my sweet little girl will be having surgery to have ear tubes put in and her adenoids removed.

Feeling a bit nervous, anxious, hopeful, scared, well... you get the point.

She has had a long history of ear infections, sinus infections, and respiratory issues to say the least and I am hopeful that this helps all of the above.

Please say a prayer for her that she does well in surgery and a couple for me that I stay calm and collected through this very short procedure.

At least this little cutie will be there to accompany Paige during her surgery.

I DO.

Congrats to my little sister, Rachael, and her new hubby, Chris!

Over the last few weekends, I have been going back and forth to my sister's house to help her prepare for the BIG DAY! One weekend of prep, one weekend of fun and a Bridal Shower, and the next a Wedding where they said... I DO.
The wedding ended with a beautiful fireworks display. The wedding and reception was all our doors where we were blessed with beautiful weather.

Congrats, Rachael and Chris! Oh... and Chris... welcome to the family!

Winner...

Do you think you guessed the right amount of DUM-DUM's?

For those of you that do not know what a Dum-Dum is, it is a delicious little lolli-pop that is the perfect size to satify your sweet tooth and comes in several yummy flavors. My kids look forward to receiving these after visiting the doctor's office. Also great for using to bribe your little one in completeing chores and as a reward when they do good.

Okay... I let you wait long enough.... There are...

228 Dum-Dums

There was not a single person that nailed it on the head, however there was one person that was only 5 dum-dum's away from guessing the correct amount.

Congratulations, Jodie!
Jodie said... Congrats on the 1 year and I am going to say 223

Thanks to everyone for all the lovely comments on my 1 year of blogging and for participating in my DUM-DUM Giveaway!

DUM-roll please....

Today is my 1 year blogiversary! I think people celebrate blogiversaries for the sole purpose because it is such a great excuse for a giveaway... at least that is what I think.
So, for my "great excuse for a giveaway" day, I will be celebrating with a whole-lotta DUM DUMS!!! Guess how many Dum-Dums are in this jar....
Leave a comment with your guess... and feel free to leave a little extra just to make my day. :o)
The first person to guess exactly how many dum-dums that are in the jar or is the closest to the number of dum-dums in the jar wins this...
Contest ends Friday, August 28, 2009 at midnight. Winner will be announced on Monday, August 31. Good Luck!

September 11

Saw this from Moda Lissa.
LETS DO THIS......

We have a little less than one month and counting to get the word out all across this great land and into every community in the United States of America.

If you forward this email to least 11 people and each of those people do the same ... you get the idea.

THE PROGRAM:
On Friday, September 11th, 2009, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States . Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this eighth anniversary of one of our country's worst tragedies. We do this to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.
In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country.

An Authentic Tutorial and Giveaway!!!

I am sooo excited about my latest MBS tutorial... YOU MUST GO CHECK IT OUT!

I had this idea of re-vamping and modernizing the "t-shirt dress" and ended up coming up with this little creation. It features the new Authentic line by one of Moda's newest designers, Sweetwater. Of course it also had to feature my two most adorable little chitlins. :)

I couldn't leave out the boys, so I designed this cute little shirt to coordinate with the little girls shirt dress. Abcd templates are included with the tutorial.

So.. go now and check it out... OH.. and don't forget to let me know what you think! Would love to hear from you all!

Carmen Convertible Bag

If you have not made one of these bags yet, you MUST!

It is the Carmen Convertible Bag by Serendipity Studios. The pattern has two sizes you can make... Handbag (smaller bag) or the Small Tote (larger bag).

I made the smaller bag for my sister for her birthday a few weeks ago. I loved the way it turned out!

I decided to go with a linen for the outside of the bag and add a little applique flower before attaching the pocket on the bag with a little rhinestone button.

These bags are so fun and easy to make, I am actually in the middle of making the larger one for a very close friend of mine for her birthday.

A morning of flying...

Saturday Morning Phone Call to Poppy {aka: my dad} at 7:30am

Granny: Hello?

Paige: Poppy Please.

Granny: Okay, hold on a minute.

Poppy: Hello?

Paige: Paige fly Poppy {translation... I (paige) want to go flying}

Poppy: You want to flying?!

Paige: Uh huh.

Poppy: Okay!

Paige: Paige come tirty mi-its {translation... I will be there in thirty minutes.}

So, Paige and I head on over to Granny and Poppy's house so she can go flying with Poppy. On the way there...

Paige: Mommy stay with Gra-ee and Paige go a-self... k. {translation... I want to go flying all by myself with Poppy and you stay at the house with Granny... Okay.}

Me: Oh... Okay (surprised).

Paige has gone flying several times while sitting in my lap... never by herself.

She has become such a big girl... I am so proud!

Oh... and btw... if you know where I can find a pink toy airplane, please let me know. She told me that she wants christmas (aka: Santa) to bring her a PINK airplane.

A Frenchy Lipstick Skirt

For the Spring Quilt Market in Pittsburgh, I decided to make myself a skirt to wear on the first day. Fortunately, Camille happened to take this picture of me at Market which turned out to be the only picture I have of the skirt I made. Thanks Camille!

The pattern is Bananafana's Lipstick Skirt {view B} and the fabric is from French General's collection, Rouenneries for Moda. I opted not to put the belt loops on the skirt and wore the belt ontop of my tank. BTW... these shoes {shown in pic above} match perfectly with the French General red... they are from Payless.

Also, just posted on the Moda Website... a Behind the Scenes look at the Spring Quilt Market... go check it out!
