Have you ever searched all over your craft room looking for just one piece of graph paper to sketch out a new design of a quilt or project? Look no more! Just hop online and go to http://www.modafabrics.com/, rollover Fun Stuff and click on Graph Paper, Print and vwala... instant graph paper! How about that older Moda Fabric collection that you want to design a quilt or project with in EQ6 or Moda Fabricmatcher and you need some images to upload? Well, thanks to the wonderful suggestion from Bloom, we have added a Moda Fabric Archive to our website so you can download the JPG images of older fabric collections. Simply go to http://www.modafabrics.com/ and rollover the Fabrics title, then click on What's New. Under the What's New for Moda Fabrics title is a link to the Moda Fabrics Archive. Bloom received an additional special gift since her suggestion was actually posted. Congratulations to everyone and Thank you! Your comments and suggestions are always appreciated!

OH!... I also received a special little Annie yesterday in the mail that I ordered through Nicole at http://www.raggedyoldannies.com/.
Meet Santa Tiny Annie... she is our newest addition to our household. Paige has recently adopted Edna Annie out of my office and Santa Annie and carries them all over the house. Nicole does such wonderful work making these annies look vintage and stylish. She is sooo adorable and so tiny!

Also, stay tuned... I made a Banafana skirt this past weekend for Paige to wear on Thanksgiving ...and the day after that... and day after that... and so on.... and so on... and so on. IT IS TOOO CUTE! Can't wait to show it off, but my hubby has the camera so I have to wait for him to bring it home.

Moda Fabricmatcher

First, I will start off with announcing our Moda Fabricmatcher September Contest Winner. If you remember, our September Fabricmatcher contest was a Challenge on "American Fashion".

You were to take this picture from The "Lost Quilt Masterpieces", A Silly Calendar for 2009-2010 by Barbara Brackman and create your best representation of this picture into a project. Well, the results are in and the winner is......... Fabricmatcher member: gb. We had Barbara Brackman take part in the judging on this contest and she stated, "I like the way she's captured some of the subtleties like the dotted window curtain and the siding with the scalloped edge echoing the rick rack on the apron." Congratulations, gb!

Don't forget about this month's Fabricmatcher contest featuring Fig Tree Quilts. You can go to our Moda Fabricmatcher website for the contest rules.

Modafabrics.com

New Books

Material Obsession of Austrailia has a new book coming out called "Material Obsession" and it is coming to the USA! I have received a copy of this book from the lovely Sarah Fielke and absolutely love it. The photography and the style of the quilts are just amazing. I especially love all the hand sketches included with the patterns for each quilt. Stay tuned for more information about where to buy this book and when you can play with their patterns from this book on our Moda Fabricmatcher website!

Another quilting book, I absolutely want to get is a new book coming out from Anka's Treasures called Livin' Large. She has designed 11 projects using large scale print fabrics. I really like these quilts because you really can take advantage of those larger print fabrics and have a beautiful quilt when they are all put together. Check out more about her new book and the quilts featured in her book on her blog. LOVE IT!

Giveaways

One last thing... Quiltersbuzz.com is having a couple giveaways on their website. One is for an adorable "Charming Baby Log Cabin" Quilt Kit by Threaded Pear Studio and the other is for a new "Denim Redesign" book by Indygo Junction. Both are worth checking out, especially if you have a ton of worn jeans just waiting for a project to be done with them.... I know I do. I love making quilts and things out of old torn jeans. There is nothing like a good pair of jeans.

30 Days and Counting....

It has officially started.... the chocolate and Dr. Pepper cravings have kicked into gear in preparation for Quilt Market. Market is quickly approaching and I am sooo looking forward to it... new web developments, chocolate, new fabrics and products, Dr. P, new ideas, chocolate, the long hours, more chocolate and DP, the excitement of market.... did I mention chocolate? No kidding... I truly love it when market rolls around... it is an adrennaline rush for quilters. I may be a web developer, however I definitely enjoy sewing when the time permits. I have been munching on Peanut M&M's all week and I had to change it up a bit tonight, so I made brownies with extra chocolate chips after dinner. YUMMM!!! Want some?

On another note... We are holding another challenge on our Moda Fabricmatcher website! WOOHOO!

The Fabricmatcher contest for October 2008 will be featuring one of our Moda Fabric Designers, Fig Tree Quilts. Joanna Figueroa with Fig Tree Quilts has gladly accepted to be apart of our October Contest.

Hurry... Contest ends Sept. 30!!!

Only one week left to get your Contest submission in for our Moda Fabricmatcher contest for September! If you have not been to our Moda Fabricmatcher website, then you must check it out. For the month of September we are doing a contest for our monthly quilt kit winner. The prize is a fat quarter bundle of the best fabric out there... Moda Fabrics... and a really cute calendar that Barbara Brackman (Moda Fabric Designer) has taken original artwork and put a fabric spin on it.

Anyway... the rules are simple... Go to http://moda.fabricmatcher.com/ , upload this picture by Barbara Brackman into the Image Matcher on the Find Fabrics page and find fabrics that match the colors in the picture. You then create a project using the fabrics that match the picture and come up with your own interpretation of what this picture should look like as a quilt or any other project. The only catch is that you have to name your project "American Fashion" when you save it and your stash must be public.

Then, the first week of October we will pick a winner of who we (moda) think has the best interpretation of this picture. Sounds like fun... huh?! So.... start creating! If you have more than one project that you would like to submit into the contest, simply add a 1, 2, 3, etc. after the name "American Fashion". For detailed rules for the contest go to http://moda.fabricmatcher.com/ShowTell/WINAQUILTKIT/tabid/132/Default.aspx.

ENJOY!!!
