Just a quick belly update...
1st Trimester is over and on to the 2nd. Luckily during my first trimester I experienced no nausea or morning sickness. I did seem to get tired fairly quickly and I actually have had a very healthy appetite with this pregnancy which is sooo completely different from my previous pregnancies. With my other two kiddos, I craved very unhealthy foods and could eat and eat. Not with this one... which I actually am kind of thankful for. :) My cravings consist of chicken and fruits... lots and lots of fruit. My energy level is finally ramping back up and I am feeling pretty darn great!
Anyway... stay tuned for the ever growing belly shots.

NEW LENS: AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G’s
I ordered a new lens just released on the market and recently received it for my Nikon D60 camera and am so syched about it! If you have a Nikon D-SLR camera, then this is a must have lens!
It is a 50mm lens and has an auto-focus and manual focus option built in. The pictures are absolutely amazing! If you have ever wanted to take pictures where it focuses in on one object and then everything else is kind of a blur, then this is the lens for you! I LOVE IT!
Read more about this lens and how to get it from the I AM Nikon blog. Awesome article... you won't be disappointed.

Weekend Book Signing
This past Saturday, Jenny Garland and I were invited to The Quilt Asylum in McKinney, Texas to attend a book signing for the Moda Bake Shop's new book, Fresh Fabric Treats!
We had a wonderful time meeting several quilters that were regular visitors of the quilt shop and some that had traveled from miles away to see the quilt shop and get a signed book.
Thank you to The Quilt Asylum for having us and to all of you readers that came to visit us! YOU ALL ROCK!

Garden Party Favors
Every little girl loves flowers and butterflies! Here is a quick and easy tutorial for party favors that will work with any girly themed party.... especially Garden Parties!
1. You will need a butterfly flower stem.. these can be found at Hobby Lobby, JoAnns or other floral department stores.
2. Little individually wrapped flower pots. I got mine from the dollar section at Target.
3. Precut round Tulle circles... these can be found in the wedding section at Hobby Lobby, JoAnns, and other floral department stores. You will also need some twistie ties.
4. Place one of your flower pots in the center of one tulle circle.
5. Pull the sides up and pull tightly together at the top. Using your twist tie, tightly wind around the top of the tulle to hold in place.
6. Using a pencil twist the stem of your floral stem of the butterfly tightly around the pencil to create a cute little curly stem.
7. Push the stem off the pencil and twist it around the tulle top of the flower pot.
You now have a cute little favor that any little girl will love. Make several of these to pass out as favors at your next party!

The difference between men and women...
I received this email this morning and it was too good that I just have to share it. Come on... you know it is SOOO True!
NICKNAMES
If Laura, Kate and Sarah go out for lunch,
they will call each other Laura, Kate and Sarah.
If Mike, Dave and John go out, they will affectionately
refer to each other as Fat Boy, Bubba and Wildman .
EATING OUT
When the bill arrives, Mike, Dave and John will each
throw in $20, even though it's only for $32.50.
None of them will have anything smaller and none will
actually admit they want change back.
When the girls get their bill, out come the pocket calculators.
MONEY
A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs.
 A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't
need but it's on sale.
BATHROOMS
A man has six items in his bathroom: toothbrush and toothpaste,
shaving cream, razor, a bar of soap, and a towel.
The average number of items in the typical woman's bathroom is 337.
A man would not be able to identify more than 20 of these items.
ARGUMENTS
A woman has the last word in any argument.
Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.
FUTURE
A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband.
A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.
SUCCESS
A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.
A successful woman is one who can find such a man.
MARRIAGE
A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't.
A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change, but she does.
DRESSING UP
A woman will dress up to go shopping, water the plants, empty the trash,
answer the phone, read a book, and get the mail.
A man will dress up for weddings and funerals.
NATURAL
Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed.
Women somehow deteriorate during the night.
OFFSPRING
Ah, children. A woman knows all about her children.
She knows about dentist appointments and romances,
best friends, favorite foods, secret fears and hopes and dreams.
A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.
Hope this gave you at least a little chuckle this morning... now have a Wonderful Day!

Moda Towel Pack Apron Tutorial
For those of you that have ever purchased a towel pack produced by Moda Home, you will know that they come packaged in this adorable little fabric envelope. Well, I have been saving my little envelopes from my towels for whatever reason... because they were so darn cute!
I came up with an idea on using these cute little fabric envelopes {besides sitting in your drawer}... A cute little apron!
What you will need:
Moda towel pack with fabric envelope {I used the Flour Sack Towel envelope 961-12}
2 yards of coordinating ribbon
Coordinating thread
Ruler
Marking Pencil
Instructions:
Be sure your fabric envelope is pressed nice and flat.
Using a ruler and marking pencil, draw a line 5" from each side. Your middle pocket will be the largest.
Stitch down your envelope on the lines drawn creating 3 pockets.
With your 2 yards of ribbon, fold the ribbon in half to find the center, place the center of the ribbon on the center of your envelope just above the pockets.
Pin the center in place.
Pin down the rest of the ribbon along the top of the pockets. Be sure not to overlap your pockets so you do not stitch closed the opening.
Stitch your ribbon down along both sides of your ribbon from one end of the envelope to the other. Be sure to backstitch at each end to reinforce your stitch.
That is it! Tie it around your waist and you now have a cute little apron to hold craft supplies, money, and more!
All Moda towel packs with envelopes can be purchased from Home a la mode.

Listen to your Mother...
This WAS my cell phone...
This is my cell phone with a cracked screen...
This is my son's reaction when the phone broke {Actually, more like after I disciplined him and took away his toy}...
How did it get this way? Hmmm... let me tell you a little story.
Matthew and I took a little grocery shopping trip to Walmart yesterday. All was happy in our little world. Matthew found a toy transformer to buy with his allowance and I was at peace getting something checked off my ever long to do list. Then before I knew it things started to a little array. Matthew started getting impatient and stubborn. He decided to start digging through things in the cart. Matthew, put that back. Matthew, stop digging in the cart. MATTHEW, leave it alone. MATTHEW... MATTHEW... I said LEAVE IT A-L-O-N-E! whew! So with a twist and a shove, Matthew pushes the cart in a fury. SLIP, SPLAT... CRACK! On to the floor my phone fell from the cart.
HOLY Mother! You can only guess what happens next. Oh Yes, when mama ain't happy, nobody's happy. I was so mad, the tears in my eyes were steaming. Okay, so I didn't cry, but I sure wanted to. Needless to say, Matthew got into trouble... right in the middle of the store!
Off to the cellular repair shop it must go. Soon to be a fixed phone and a happy mom. It is funny when then these things happen, it really makes you think... I am mad that my phone is busted or because my child won't listen and do what I ask? Obviously, it is because my child wouldn't listen... but have to admit... I was pretty darn pissed that I had to spend more money to get my phone fixed.
So, kids... the moral of the story is... listen to your mother or your allowance will end up going towards a new glass screen for her phone and not the toy you wanted.

A Company that Cares...
Moda is hosting a special event, "Just One Star".
The challenge is to piece, quilt and bind 100 quilts in 100 days using the Flag of Valor pattern by Minick and Simpson. The deadline for star blocks is May 1, 2011 so that we can meet our quilt deadline by Flag Day, June 14, 2011. Read more information about this event here...
One of the greatest things about working for Moda Fabrics/United Notions are the people you work with and most of all the leader of the company... Mark Dunn. There was article written about him today which really sums it all down to one thing. Caring. He is an owner that cares about quilts, the industry... the people. A few years ago, he started a fabric collection under his name, Howard Marcus, that focuses on recreating antique quilts and fabrics to support a cause. A new cause for each new collection. You can read more here...
Many of you my already know of Moda Fabrics, however if you don't know very much about Moda, I bid you to come learn more and give sewing a try. You just might get addicted.

2.28.2011
When a loved one passes away, you tend to find yourself remembering all the memories you have of that person and reflecting back on the life they led. Mostly, the time you spent with that person.
On 2.28.2011, my Grandpa parted from earth and joined our loving Father in Heaven. He was 83 years old and had lived a full life. Married to my Grandma for 59 years, together they have 8 Children, 16 Grandchildren, and 14 Great Grandchildren. He loved to wiggle his ears, play and tease the great grandkids, and be with family. He was a "what you see is what you get" kinda guy. Never tried to impress anyone, just tried to be himself. Take or leave it. I was able to get to know my Grandpa a little better in the last 15 years when they moved closer to my family and am blessed to have been able to spend that time with him.
He was and still is my Grandpa and I love him very much. Rest in Peace.
