My daughter has the same love for paper dolls as I did as a kid, however her dolls just kept getting torn up by her little brother. Even the magnetic ones lost their heads! So, I was on a mission to figure out a way to let her be able to enjoy her paperdolls without the fear of her little brother being able to tear them apart.
Then it hit me... I can make some out of fabric! Genius... right? So... out with the drawing pencils, paper and a couple hours later, I had my "Flats" templates. Can you tell how excited I am about these little pieces of fabric?
UPDATE: Fabric collection of "Flats" was released by Moda in 2013.
"Flats" panels by Quiltsmart coming Fall 2014.
Genius! Now all I need is a little girl to play with them. Adorable...
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, and they are darling too!
ReplyDeleteI guess we're all thinkin' the same thing because I was gonna say "genius" before I even read it on your post and now I see that Camille said it too. They are genius and so cute! Great job! P.S. I got a little package in the mail today from Moda and I am SOOO excited about the fabric you guys sent me to make Candy Hearts. Thanks so much. You guys are awesome!!

Hi! I am wondering if I could add your project pdf to my blog? I have a section called fun stuff and this would be great to include. My site is modernspool dot com. thank you! I love this project
ReplyDeleteEspero que tu niña se encuentre mejor! Besos desde España! Angie
ReplyDeleteYour paper doll quilt is so cute! And a very good idea. I loved paper dolls as a child. I couldn't get my daughter interested in them. I loved to design clothes for them with paper, pencil and crayons.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute, as are those kiddos!
ReplyDeleteI love them - thanks so much for the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of sharing - have you checked out all the great stuff at www.WeAllSew.com?
Do you have the tutorial you could send to me? The link no longer works. I would love to have the instructions! thanks so much! no35style@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteThe tutorial has actually been removed from the site because of their new makeover. They are now in the form of Fabric! The dolls and clothing have been printed on fabric panels so all you have to do is cut and sew... no tracing involved. My new fabric collection is called Flats and is being manufactured by Moda Fabrics. It is available in stores in May 2013. You can learn more about the Flats on my website at http://www.angelayosten.com
DeleteThese are fantastic!! Saw you over at Tip Junkie but it took some serious hunting to find you since the link to you isn't working. So worth looking... I love these and am pinning!
ReplyDelete<3 Christina at I Gotta Create!
Wildly Original link party is open.

DeleteHello. I've been looking all over for your pattern / tutorial. Would you please link me up to it. I can not find it anywhere. Thank you so much!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't find your tutorial at Moda. It says the link doesn't exist. Do you have it somewhere else? I'd love to include it in a quiet book I'm working on for my granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteYour link at Moda doesn't work for the adorable flat fabric dolls. I looked on your Etsy site to see if you are selling the pattern but it is not listed. How can I get this pattern and tutorial? I would love to make some of these for my sewing room decor with some of my stash.

DeleteI, too, am looking for the pattern! Linky no worky ;) Is there somewhere else we can find it?
ReplyDeleteHi Angela
ReplyDeleteThe panels no longer exist. Did you or anyone else keep a copy of the original pattern that you could share with us please?
Thank you
Francine
I am searching like crazy for these panels but cannot find them! I remember a time when the tutorials were available and could have sworn I had downloaded the patterns but cannot find those either. Is there any way to access the patterns (either by free download or paid pattern download) since the panels are not available?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I have great news!!! My Flats doll and clothing panels are now available for purchase on Interfacing. Here is a link to purchase from an online store that ships worldwide... www.homealamode.com/search.aspx?find=flats+interfacing
DeleteI am so excited about the release of my Flats in this new format. You can pick and choose your very own fabrics to create an entire new wardrobe. I know you will love them as much as I do. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
